 Mrs. June Bearden - Director of Bands, Frenship Middle School

      Mrs. June Bearden is starting her 29th year of teaching and her 21st year as Director of Bands at Frenship MS in Wolfforth, Texas.  She graduated from Wichita Falls High School, followed by Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education with primary study on French Horn.

      Her bands have been consistent festival and University Interscholastic League Sweepstakes Award winners.  She enjoys serving as clinician and judge across the state. Mrs. Bearden was selected as Teacher of the Year at Atkins Junior High School in Lubbock and awarded and Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers.  Mrs. Bearden served as a director of a camp band at the Texas Tech Band & Orchestra Camp for 30 years as well as the Texas Tech Middle School Academy.  She has served as Region XVI Middle School Band Coordinator and on several TMEA committees over the years.  Her teaching career has included the Texas school districts of Monahans, Plainview, Lubbock and Frenship.

      Mrs. Bearden's professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu & the Board of Directors, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Women Band Directors International current Texas Chapter president, Mu Phi Epsilon and honorary memberships in Tau Beta Sigma Kappa Kappa Psi.  

      Mrs. Bearden is married to Keith Bearden and they enjoy time in Lubbock with family & friends, church events and her cats. She also enjoys travel, outdoor activities, photography/scrapbooking and driving her 1966 Ford Mustang.

 Mr. Donovan Ashcraft - Assistant Director, Frenship Middle School

In 2009 Donovan Ashcraft graduated from Frenship High School and then went on to West Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Music Education with emphasis in Trombone.  While at WT he was in the Trombone Choir studying under Dr. Rai Morales, Brass Choir, Symphonic Band, and Four Across Trombone Quartet. In 2010 Donovan had the opportunity to perform in Washington D.C. for the Eastern Trombone Workshop with the WTAMU Trombone Choir.

Upon graduating from West Texas A&M University Donovan student taught at Foster High School where he helped assist the band to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. After student teaching he took the Head Director position at Vega High School where he led them to their first award winning season since 1985. In his second year of teaching Donovan moved back to his home town, Lubbock, Texas where he was the Head Director at Ropes I.S.D. and led the Eagle Marching Band to its first ever State Title in Class 1A.

Donovan is married to Brittany Ashcraft, who is pursuing a Masters Degree in Interior Design at Texas Tech in the Fall. He also has a hyper Husky named Shadow.
